Building-Grid Research & Development Event
The United States Department of Energy Building-Grid Integration Research and Development (BIRD) program explores building-grid integration research and development technology concepts that can improve the operating efficiency of buildings and increase penetration of distributed renewable energy generation. The U.S. Department of Energy’s Building Technologies Office is coordinating activities with stakeholders and universities across the country to investigate transaction-based energy systems and VOLTTRON, an open source control and coordination platform for distributed controls. This new program has selected 14 graduate student recipients and faculty advisors across the country, and UTSA is proud to be represented in this prestigious group.
