Letter from the Director
Welcome to the UTSA Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute. The Institute was founded in 2010 with the objective of creating transformative leaders capable of developing innovative solutions to tackle complex challenges in the energy and sustainability sectors.
The Institute serves as a center of intellectual creativity and innovation by promoting collaboration across disciplines and carefully balancing technical, economic and societal needs. Our solutions are multi-disciplinary in nature and seek to improve the quality of life and standards of living of our local community.
Our research focuses on the following areas:
- Energy Efficiency and Conservation
- Renewable Energy Technologies and Energy Storage
- Energy Analytics
- Cyber-Security
- Energy-Water Nexus
- Infrastructure Planning and Management
- Sustainability
Our success largely depends on our ability to develop long-term working partnerships with key organizations in the energy and sustainability sectors including academic institutions, electric utilities, regulatory agencies, non-profit research groups, national laboratories, for-profit corporations, advocacy groups, and the public at large.
We are committed to excellence and service. Over the past 6 years, the Institute has supported over 35 faculty and staff and over 140 students, both graduate and undergraduate. We are leaving an imprint on our students, the university, and the community at large.
Join our team and help us realize a better energy future for generations to come!
Sincerely,
