Phase two of UTSA’s photovoltaic solar array project is now up and running. The University’s most recent effort in sustainable energy practices can be seen on the roof of the Durango Building at the University’s downtown campus. Installed in late 2011, the 141.68 kW DC fixed tilt roof mounted photovoltaic solar array is estimated to save the university over $15,000 in energy costs over one year.  The project was made possible “by two American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) grants totaling nearly $2 million from the State Energy Conservation Office under the Distributed Renewable Energy Technology Stimulus Grant program.”
