James E Groff, Ph.D.

James E. Groff holds a Ph.D. in business administration with a concentration in accounting from the University of Iowa, an MBA from Stetson University and a B.S. degree in mathematics from the University of Iowa. He joined the accounting faculty at UTSA in 1988. Prior to that he had taught accounting at Oklahoma State University. Dr. Groff 's research interests are in costing and efficiency in education and healthcare, governmental financial reporting and financial markets. He has served as associate dean of the College of Business and since 2006 as chair of the Department of Accounting. He is the faculty advisor for the Master of Accountancy Program. His primary teaching area is accounting information systems.
