San Antonio NanoTechnology Forum
Date: October 18. 2012
Location: CCC Lago Vista, NW Vista College
The mission of San Antonio Nanotechnology Forum (SANTF) is to accelerate emerging technology commercialization by establishing a forum that encourages networking and collaboration opportunities for researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and companies working in the areas of nanomaterials and nanotechnology in the Greater San Antonio.
San Antonio has a great wealth of companies working in the area of emerging technologies. However, most of us are unaware of people and companies working in related areas, especially nanotechnology. Potential for collaborations exist, but that can’t happen if we don’t know each other. SANTF was formed to provide an opportunity to network within our community. The goal of SANTF is to establish a venue for local researchers, early-stage investors, venture capitalists, and industry leaders to gather and discuss developments in the areas of Biomaterials, Energy, Clean Technology, and Sustainability.
SANTF brings together major technology players in the area to form strong alliances among the researchers at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA), University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA), Southwest Research Institute (SwRI), Texas Biomedical Research Institute, Alamo Community Colleges, Trinity University, Texas State University in San Marcos, and other educational and military institutions. SANTF promotes intellectual creativity in the area of nanotechnology that will create a strong nanotechnology base in San Antonio. SANTF is committed to enhancing San Antonio’s nanotechnology future and establishing the Alamo City as a global leader in nanotechnology. SANTF proposes to organize regular meetings on a semi-annual basis to promote research ideas, provide updated collaborative opportunities, and present job training/employment opportunity information to all participants. A full-day inaugural conference will be held on October 18, 2012 at Northwest Vista College to formally launch SANTF.
